If you computer is slowing down at times, you can get a sigh of relief (to an extent) by increasing the virtual memory size. Virtual memory works similarly as RAM with the difference that RAM is a physical component whereas Virtual Memory is logical division made by the processor.
Below are the steps to increase virtual memory space:
- Right click My Computer
- Properties -> Advanced -> Performance - Settings -> Advanced -> Virtual Memory -> Change
- Initial Size: Keep the default value
- Maximum Size: Double of given value (e.g. if given 200 MB, change it to 400 MB)
- Now restart your computer to experience the change
