Bharti Airtel hikes prepaid call tariff in six circles

 
Telecom major Bharti Airtel on Friday announced an increase in the prepaid tariff rates of its 'Advantage' pack.

The company announced that users of advantage packs, which are based on per minute billing, will have to pay 60 paise per minute for local and STD calls to mobile phones and 90 paise for local and STD calls to landlines. Furthermore, Re 1 and Rs 1.5 will be charged for local and national SMSes, respectively. Existing users will have to pay for new rates after the validity of their existing voucher ends.

There is no increase in the tariff of its 'Freedom' pack, which is based on per second billing.
Call tariffs were hiked by 20% in six major circles including New Delhi, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Sources say that other telecom players will follow suit.

Bharti Airtel added 2.12 million mobile subscribers in June, taking its total to 169.2 million, data from Cellular Operators Association of India said.

India is the world's second-biggest mobile-phone market after China. Bharti, the fifth-largest mobile operator globally by subscribers, operates in 19 countries in South Asia and Africa.

Earlier this month, Bharti Airtel announced it was streamlining its India and South Asia operations to create a leaner cost structure in order to boost its financial performance.

Vodafone 3G Goes Live in UP West :: Speed and Details

Even though Vodafone has not officially announced 3G service In up West lets see whats in store for us .

I performed this test on 29-6-11 & 30-6-11 as follows:

1) Sent a sms ACT 3G to 144 and got a reply like shown below


2- It takes only one minute for activation of 3G

3 -I was able to make video calls to another network also tested call to bsnl at Rs. .3 per minute. Also got incoming Video calls from BSNL network at Rs. 1.5 per minute (STD off-net charges) charged by BSNL, no incoming charges by Vodafone.

4- But surprisingly when I started to test youtube videos on my handset got an alert like shown below.


5- How can I be a roamer in my home circle ? This made me realize that Vodafone has a roaming agreement with idea in UP West.



6- So Now I decided to tested 3G data speed by using Micromax MMX 300G Data Card.

and got the results as 0.11 Mb/s as Upload Speed and 0.84 Mb/s as Download Speed
