DOG BECOMES UNTOUCHABLE AFTER DALIT TOUCH

Dog cast(e) away after dalit touch
Sep 24, 2010

BHOPAL: A dog's life couldn't get worse. A mongrel brought up in an upper caste home in Morena was kicked out after the Rajput family members discovered that their Sheru had eaten a roti from a dalit woman and was now an "untouchable". Next, Sheru was tied to a pole in the village's dalit locality. His controversial case is now pending with the district collector, the state police and the Scheduled Caste Atrocities police station in Morena district of north MP. ?
? The black cur, of no particular pedigree, was accustomed to the creature comforts in the home of its influential Rajput owners in Manikpur village in Morena. Its master, identified by the police as Rampal Singh, is a rich farmer with local political connections. ??A week ago Sunita Jatav, a dalit woman, was serving lunch to her farm labourer husband. "There was a 'roti' left over from lunch. I saw the dog roaming and fed it the last bread," Sunita said. "But when Rampal Singh saw me feeding the dog and he grew furious. He yelled: 'Cobbler woman, how dare you feed my dog with your roti?' He rebuked me publicly. I kept quiet thinking the matter would end there. But it got worse," she said.

On Monday, Rampal ex-communicated the dog. A village panchayat was called, whi- ch decided that Sheru would now have to live with Sunita and her family because it had become an untouchable. Sunita Jatav was fined Rs 15,000.

For connection on your mobile phone:-

HOTTTEST PLANET..'WASP-33b'

WASP-33b, Hottest Planet's
More Heat From Multiple
Stars

Astronomers involved in the
project Super Wide Angle
Search for Planets (SuperWASP)
have discovered the hottest
planet called WASP-33b. The
temperature of the planet is
hotter than the temperature
of some stars.

The existence of the planet has
been suspected since 2006, but
was only confirmed in 2010
yesterday. Known, the planet is
classified in this type of gas
planets with masses less than
4.5 times the mass of Jupiter.

Based on observations with the
William Herschel Telescope,
WASP-33b temperatures
reaching 3200 degrees Celsius.
The temperature was hotter
than a red dwarf star with a
temperature 700 degrees
Celsius and WASP-12b where
the temperature in 2300
degrees Celsius.

One cause of the heat of the
planet's temperature is the
temperature of the parent
star is too hot. Astronomers
said the temperature of the
planet's parent star is 7160
degrees Celsius, higher than
the temperature of the sun is
only 5600 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, another reason is
the proximity distance of
WASP-33b orbits the parent
star.
With a distance of only 7
percent of the distance
Mercury-Sun, the planet
seemed to be "contaminated"
hot parent star.

The study of the planet led by
Alexis Smith of the University of
Keele in Stafordshire, England.
Through this study, the
astronomers also know that
the planet's revolution time is
very short, only 29.5 hours.

Drake Demming of NASA's
Goddard Space Flight Center in
Greenbelt, Maryland who was
not involved in the study, said,
"WASP-33b could help
astronomers examine the hot
planetary the characteristic still
a mystery."

Lesson to be learned for
example the orbit planet close
to its star that has a layer of
the atmosphere is cooler
outside than inside layer. This is
surprising because the planet is
"heated" from the outside.

Deming said that fact could be
related to the presence of
carbon-based compounds that
change the way the
atmosphere respond to
radiation. Certain chemical
compounds can be formed by
ultraviolet light from the star.

"It certainly would be a planet
you want to see. This is a very
rare opportunity to study the
planet orbiting the star is
super hot," said Deming in his
interview with New Scientist.

Truely Unlimited Free 3g internet Reliance Check Out 99Rs plan

So here is the trick.
1) First activate the rc0mnet 99rs plan by either requesting or using the link.
2) Check your balance by dialing *367. It will be 25k
3) Use up almost 2gb, so 500mb data still remains on your account.
4) Now change your accesspoint to rcomwap/mms.
5) You can download as much as you want from rcomwap/mms without backstring or proxy server and amazingly your gprs balance stays the same, worst case;only 10ps will be deducted from 500mb per connection.
6) There is no condition of main balance, my balance is 12 rupees, but don't keep it too high to be on the safer side.
7) Ideally I use rc0mnet for secure sites and wap/mms for other things, although secure sites work fine on wap/mms on pc. Also there is no disconnection or network inactivity on mms like in backstring trick.
8) Now there is no need to call CC and the trick will live forever(fingers crossed)

Google's Work Environment...

We already knew that working for Google had certain advantages, but, believe me, this giant of the search motor takes the welfare of its employees seriously .. as shown by this decompression (stress) capsule that is impermeable to sound and light ...

Moving around: A slide allows quick access from different floors ... There are also poles available ... they are similar to the ones used in fire stations.

Food. Employees can eat all they want from a vast choice of food and drink.

Work Station: Each employee has at least two large screens. There are 4-6 'Zooglers' per office.

INOVATION: Large boards are available just about everywhere because 'ideas don't always come when seated in the office' says one of Googles managers.

LEISURE. Pool tables, video games etc. are available in many areas.

Communication... On each floor, there are private cabin areas where employees can attend to personal affairs.

Technical Support: Problem with your computer ? No problem ... Bring it to this area where drinks are available while it is being fixed ...

Health: Professional masseurs (eusses) available.

REST ... This room provides massage chairs that you control ... while you view relaxing aquariums .... !!!

Ambiance ... There are many books in this library ... even some about programming!!

Eden Gardens will not host India-England World Cup match

Kolkata's Eden Gardens will not host the India-England World Cup tie slated for February 27 due toits unpreparedness, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said Thursday followingan adverse report from the venue inspection team. The inspection team comprising tournamentdirector Ratnakar Shetty, members of the Central Organising Committe (COC) and theICC reported on the readiness of five outstanding venues after visiting the facilities. The team inspected Eden Gardens Tuesday. 'The expert report, however, determined that Eden Gardens in Kolkata would not be ready within an acceptable time frame to host the India vs England ICC Cricket World Cup match on Feb 27,' the ICC said ina statement Thursday. 'Of particular concern was the fact that host venue obligations in relation to cricket operations, media, broadcast and sponsorship facilities were not finalised and/or confirmed by the venue,' it said. Unfortunately, it was India's only match at Eden Gardens which is supposed to host threeother -- South Africa vs. Ireland (March 15), the Netherlands vs. Ireland (March 18), andZimbabwe vs. Kenya (March 20).
ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of the decision. As the host, the BCCI will now consider an alternate venue for approval by the ICC. 'All venues had ample time to prepare for World Cup matches. Wehad been understanding and hadprovided extensions tothe deadline dates but unfortunately we are now at a point where we must carefully manage our risks,' Lorgat said. 'The COC had provided venues with a deadlineof Nov 30, 2010, to complete all construction work and then to be match-ready by December 31,2010.' 'An extension was granted by the ICC for five venues, which were again inspected over the past week. Sadly, Eden Gardens inKolkata was unable to meet the final deadlinedate of 25 January, 2011,' Lorgat said. 'Regrettably, Eden Gardens has not made sufficient progress to justify the level of confidence required toconfirm that the venuewould be ready in goodtime. This was no easy decision to take and while it is most unfortunate, it is absolutely necessary,' said Lorgat. The inspection team drew on the knowledgeand experience of some of the leading experts in the field of stadium and ground preparation and the view was that Eden Gardens would not be ready by Feb 27.

Airtel 3G finally launches , in Karnataka

Airtel has finally launched it ’ s 3G services and decided to launch it in an event in Bangalore as we reported earlier. The main reason Airtel launched 3G first in Karnataka is because this circle is Airtel ’ s largest circle by revenue market share. The company plans to launch 3G services in all the 13 circles it won a license by March 2011 Sanjay Kapoor, CEO – Bharti airtel said, “ It is indeed the start of a new era when 3G services in India roll out on airtel’ s network. World over ‘ Data traffic’ on the back of high speed internet and use of social networking has already exceeded the ‘ Voice traffic’ . India is ushering in the domain – though later than most of the world – but no doubt we will catch up at a much faster speed. 3G is much more than a technology migration – it is a transformational shift – and airtel’ s focus would be to bring to its customers an enriched user experience on the back of a world class delivery network. I welcome all 745 million mobile customers of the country to be a part of this journey with airtel!” Airtel has deployed a HSPA network for offering 3G services and one can expect speeds upto 21 Mbps. Regarding tariffs , there will be both time-based plans which are billed per hour and flexi-shield plans for heavy users. More on that soon

How To Use Top Paying AdSense Keywords To Increase AdSense Revenue

Buy and sell, it's 100% free: Apartments, jobs, cars, anything! The idea to use the top paying AdSense keywords starts from the fact, that not all AdSense clicks are equal, but the income to the publisher depends on the keyword with which the page has been optimized. Even the slight change in the keyword selection can mean a big income jump, so why not to use the top paying AdSense keywords.
1. How To Find Google Adsense High Paying Keywords?
When the page or blog post will be optimized it is important to find the long tail keywords, which are the so called top paying AdSense keywords. These are related to the page theme and will costs more to the advertiser, than the usual keywords. By doing the selection process carefully you can pick keywords, which can bring even $ 7 per every click versus $ 0,10. Think about the influence on the AdSense income!
2. You Can Optimize The Page To Increase AdSense Revenue And To Rank High.
Why not to hit two flies with one hit. It will require some work to find the related top paying AdSense keywords, but it is just a half way to the success. You need also keywords, the long tail ones, with which you can rank high on the search engine result page. To be able to do this, you have to use a special software, which will show you the competition level of the candidate keyword.
3. It Is Possible To Find The Hidden Gems.
The secret to success is to find the hidden niches, i.e. search terms, which only a few marketers use for the optimizing purposes, but many for the advertising purposes. These marketers buy PPC ads using these keywords. The number of searches per month must be on a healthy level, but the number of sites on these result pages on a low level. Sounds promising!
4. The Optimization Keyword And The Ranking Keyword Form A Winning Joint Venture.
It is always better, if the keyword with which you have optimized the page is the same with which you want to rank high on the search engine result page, because in this way the synergy works best and this system guarantees that the AdSense income is good per click and the number of visitors on a high level.
5. You Can Test The Search Term With One Article.
In the Internet marketing nothing is guaranteed. Only the tests will show, which works and which is doomed to fail. A good trick is to write one article, which is optimized with this particular keyword and submit it to one of the most powerful directories as to the ranking power. This test will show you whether the search term has the competition level, which your actions can beat.

Create a Vista password reset disk using a USB flash drive

Takeaway: If you were an early adopter of USB flash drives, you may still have a 128 MB or a 256 MB USB flash drive in the back of your desk drawer. Even though the dusty drive may seem too small to be of any real use, you can put it back to work as a [...]If you were an early adopter of USB flash drives, you may still have a 128 MB or a 256 MB USB flash drive in the back of your desk drawer. Even though the dusty drive may seem too small to be of any real use, you can put it back to work as a password reset disk for Windows Vista.
In this edition of the Windows Vista Report, I’ll show you how to create and use a password reset disk in Vista using a USB flash drive rather than a floppy disk. First, let’s take a moment to talk about the USB flash drive. The reason that I’m spotlighting your old small-capacity USB flash drive is that it is really too small to be of much use in today’s world due to that fact that portable storage needs are now reaching more towards the GB range. However, that’s not to say that you couldn’t use a 1 GB USB flash drive for a password reset disk. Some might consider that to be a waste of disk space because the password reset file only weighs in at 2 KB, but flash drives are inexpensive — you can pick up a 1 GB USB flash drive for under $20 or a 128 MB USB flash drive for under $5.
Follow these steps to create a password reset disk: 1. Insert your USB flash drive and wait for it to initialize and receive a drive letter.
2. Once the drive is ready to use, click the Start button and type User Accounts in the Start Search box.
3. Press [Enter] or click User Accounts in the Results panel. Either way, you’ll see the User Accounts dialog box. You will need to locate and click Create A Password Reset Disk in the Tasks panel (Figure A).  4. When you see the Forgotten Password Wizard’s Welcome screen, take a look at the information and click Next. 5. On the next screen, you’ll receive a prompt to choose your USB flash drive’s drive letter (Figure B). To continue, click Next.  6. On the next screen, type your Currrent User Account Password (Figure C) and then click Next.
7. You’ll see a rapidly moving progress bar. Once it reaches 100 percent, click Next, and you will see the last screen in the Forgotten Password Wizard. To complete the operation, click Finish. 8. Click the Safely Remove Hardware icon, choose your USB flash drive’s drive letter, and remove the drive when prompted to do so.
9. Label the drive and put it away in a safe place.
While you may be tempted to label the drive Password Reset, remember that anyone who happens upon this drive can use it to bypass your password and break into your computer. Try a label that will help you recognize the drive but that isn’t so obvious. If you type an incorrect password in Vista, The User Name Or Password Is Incorrect error message will appear on the login screen (Figure D). Click OK.
Follow these steps: 1. Return to the login screen, where you will reset your password below the Password box (Figure E).  2. Insert your USB flash drive and wait for it to initialize and receive a drive letter. 3. To launch the Password Reset Wizard, click Reset Password.
4. When you see the Password Reset Wizard’s Welcome screen, take a look at the information and click Next.
5. Choose your USB flash drive’s drive letter (Figure F) on the next screen and click Next.  6. The Password Reset Wizard will open the saved file, read your saved password, and perform a few operations in the background. 7. The wizard will then prompt you to create and confirm a new password. You’ll also have to create a new password hint (Figure G).  8. Clicking Next will take you to the Success screen. Click Finish to complete the operation. You can now use the new password to log on to your Vista system.
Note: As soon as you use the Password Reset Wizard to change your password, the information in the password reset file on the USB flash drive will be outdated. Therefore, as soon as you log back into Vista, you should run the Forgotten Password Wizard again and create a new password reset file.View Blog Now that Vista supports a USB flash drive for the password reset disk, do you think that the password reset disk creation procedure will be easier? If you have used a password reset disk in Windows XP, what was your experience? Post your thoughts in this article’s discussion.

Support Vector Machine Based, Project Simulation With Focus On Security In Software Development Introducing Safe Software Development Life Cycle (SSDLC) Model

Its proposed methodology introduces new concepts in the areas of security. This methodology also focuses on classification using SVM principles, and estimating complete details of SSDLC. This way the complete team will get to know in advance, before even project begins, complete simulation. As every phase of SSDLC is handling security aspects, software application developed will be more efficient and effective. This way of software development will reduce dependency on security team. Following proposed SSDLC model will empower software development team and increase their confidence levels; thereby decreasing stress and hence better timely output. Proposed chain structure of passphrase is another more suitable authentication technique as compared to one passphrase or use of password.

This is because Fundamental Rights are considered as the basic rights to be enjoyed by the citizens of the nation while the Duties are conferred upon people to be followed by them accordingly. The Fundamental Duties of the citizens of India mentioned in Article 51A of the Indian Constitution are as follows:

To respect and incorporate the ideals which were the very base of our national struggle for freedom.

To follow the Constitution and respect its institutions, the National Flag and the National Anthem.

To spread the message of peace and brotherhood amongst all the Indian citizens irrespective of linguistic, religious and regional or sectional diversities.

To discontinue practices pertaining to the impairment of the dignity of women.

To protect and promote the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India.

To protect public property and to avoid violence .

To respect and preserve the rich heritage of Indian culture.

To contribute towards making improvements in all spheres of individual and collective functions to take the nation to new heights of achievement.

To develop the spirit of inquiry and reform, a scientific temper and sense of humanism.

To provide defense and national service when called upon to the country during hours of crisis.

To preserve the natural environment of India like the forests, lakes, rivers and wild life and to have a compassionate outlook towards the living creatures..

10 cool things you can do with a USB flash drive

Takeaway: Your USB flash drive can do a whole lot more than just move data around. Greg Shultz introduces a variety of creative ways to put that drive to good use.Your USB flash drive can do a whole lot more than just move data around. Greg Shultz introduces a variety of creative ways to put that drive to good use. Transporting your data is probably the most common use for a USB flash drive. But there’s a world of other things you can do with these handy pocket-size drives. Here are 10 ways you can use that USB flash drive to do more than just move data. Note: This article is also available as a PDF download. In addition to storing your data, you can run portable applications from a USB flash drive. For example, OpenOffice, which is a complete office suite that includes a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation tool, drawing package, and database, is available as a portable application. Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird are also available as portable applications. When you combine the office suite with the ability to surf the Web and check email, you’ll be able to take your most vital computing applications with you wherever you go — right in your pocket. If that’s not enough, you can choose other applications to install on your USB flash drive from PortableApps.com (Figure A). You can even install an entire prepackaged suite of applications that includes such things as an audio player, games, an antivirus utility, and a handy menu system.
If you want to do more than just run your own applications, you might want to consider booting an entire operating system from your USB flash drive. You can boot either Windows or Linux from a USB flash drive; however, the process is not an exact science and you may be in for a technical adventure. Fortunately, there are some guides you can follow. To learn how to boot Windows XP from a USB flash drive, see the article Creating a bootable USB flash drive for Windows XP. To learn how to boot a version of Linux from a USB flash drive, see the article Puppy Linux teaches an old dog new tricks. If you have a wireless network, you can use the Wireless Network Setup Wizard in Windows XP or the Windows Connect Now (WCN) feature built into Vista to save wireless network configuration information to a USB flash drive. You can then use your drive to quickly and easily connect another computer or a WCN-compatible device, such as a router or printer, to your wireless network. To learn more about using the Wireless Network Setup Wizard, see the Help And Support Center, which is accessible from Windows XP’s Start menu. To learn more about using the Windows Connect Now feature, see Windows Help And Support, which is accessible from Windows Vista’s Start menu.
A password reset disk can really come in handy if you forget the password to your user account on a Windows system that is not a part of a domain. If you find yourself in that situation, you can use the password reset disk to reset your password and quickly get back into your user account. In Windows Vista, you can use USB flash drive rather than a floppy disk as a password reset disk (Figure B). For details on how to do so, see the article Create a Vista password reset disk using a USB flash drive.

If you’re running Windows Vista, you can use a USB flash drive to speed up your system with the ReadyBoost technology. ReadyBoost can use the storage space on a USB Flash drive as an additional memory cache to aid the memory cache on your hard disk. And because flash memory is more responsive than a hard disk, with its physical moving parts, the memory cache provided by ReadyBoost can significantly improve system responsiveness. Using ReadyBoost is easy. You just insert your USB flash drive into your Vista system and follow the onscreen prompts to configure and use ReadyBoost. If you want more details, check out the article How SuperFetch and ReadyBoost work together. If all you really want to do with your USB flash drive is transport data, and you’re running Windows XP, you can do so more efficiently with the Microsoft USB Flash Drive Manager (Figure C). Once you have installed this manager, you can easily copy files to and from your drive, back up and restore the entire flash drive to and from your hard disk, change the drive label, and even create an autorun.inf file to launch Drive Manager automatically when you plug in the drive. To learn more about and download the USB Flash Drive Manager visit the Microsoft TechNet Magazine site.

Would you like to be listening to music when you’re using a computer at the office, but you don’t have an MP3 player? If so, you can use a USB flash drive as an MP3 player along with Windows Media Player and a set of headphones. Just copy your MP3 files to your USB flash drive, plug it into your computer, and direct Windows Media Player to build a library of the songs on your drive. You can use all of Windows Media Player’s playback features, such as playlists and favorites, to easily customize your music listening experience. And best of all, you won’t have to worry about running low on battery power.
If you use a USB flash drive to transport sensitive data that you would prefer to protect from prying eyes, should you lose the drive, Rohos Mini Drive (Figure D) can safeguard that data. This security tool allows you to create a secret partition on the drive and then password-protect/encrypt that partition, thus protecting any documents you copy to that partition via the utility’s file manager. You can download (and read a review of) Rohos Mini Drive at Download.com.

If you are a Web developer, you may be interested to know that with Server2Go, you can easily run a Web server that supports Apache, PHP, MySQL, and Perl right from a USB flash drive. You can use Server2Go right out of the box without any installation. It runs on all versions of Windows, supports most common browsers, and is completely free. To a developer, the benefits of having a portable Web server on a USB drive are numerous. For example, imagine being able to carry a live Web site demo into a sales pitch meeting. For more information about this package, visit the Server2Go site.
Have you ever seen a movie in which a person in some secret government installation simply inserts and removes a card to log in and log out of a PC? If you thought that idea was cool, you’ll definitely want to investigate Predator (Figure E). Once installed and configured, this little freeware utility will allow you to turn a USB flash drive into a key you can use to lock and unlock your computer.

While the USB flash drive is connected to your computer, everything works as it normally would. Once you remove the USB flash drive, your computer is locked down — the keyboard and mouse are disabled and the screen darkens. To unlock your computer, you just plug in the USB flash drive and the computer will be unlocked and you can begin using it. To learn more about Predator, and/or to download it

Top 25 Android apps: The best of the best

Takeaway: Android now has over 70,000 apps to choose from. TechRepublic’s Jason Hiner shows you 25 of the best ones to download. The Android Market may not have as many apps as the iPhone App Store yet, but there are still enough to be overwhelmed, and it’s growing at a breakneck pace. To help you sort through them all, here’s my list of the best apps I’ve found on Android. Again, remember that this is a snapshot in time. The Android platform is developing so quickly right now that I guarantee my home screen look different a month from now.
The best way to view my list of the top Android apps is in the screenshot gallery. However, you can also view my top 25 in the list below.
1. Google Voice Google Voice is a service that is so useful I consider it one of the top benefits of Android itself, especially since Apple rejected the Google Voice app for the iPhone. It gives you a phone number that can ring to multiple places or devices and it allows you to access all of your voicemail and text messages over the Web. The Android app integrates even deeper. It can make outgoing calls look like they’re coming from your Google Voice number so that you can keep your real mobile number private.
2. Advanced Task Killer
One of the realities of having a multitasking mobile OS in Android is that you have to manage your apps so that they don’t hurt performance or battery life. Advanced Task Killer (or ATK) is my favorite. It even comes with a widget that you can tap once to kill all open apps.
3. Dropbox
Dropbox is a great cloud service that automatically syncs a folder of files between multiple computers (Windows, Mac, or Linux). This app extends Dropbox to Android and interacts with other apps (such as Documents To Go) to open the files.
4. Evernote
Once you get used to typing on a virtual keyboard (and it honestly took me over a year to do it), then these devices are great for note-taking, and Evernote is a great note-taking app. It is similar to Dropbox in that it saves data locally but syncs it across all your machines and devices.
5. DroidAnalytics
For some reason Google doesn’t have an official app (for either Android or iPhone) for Google Analytics. The best one I’ve found on Android is DroidAnalytics. Another good one is mAnalytics.
6. Documents To Go
The free version of Documents To Go offers a great little reader for Word and Excel files. You can upgrade to the full version (for $15) if you want to edit files and add PowerPoint files to the mix. If you do want editing capability, I’d also recommend taking a look at QuickOffice.
7. Amazon Kindle
I never warmed up to the Amazon Kindle e-reader, but I’m a big fan of the Kindle mobile app. Since it was released I’ve read a lot more books simply because my smartphone is always with me and I can pull it and read a few pages anytime I’ve got a couple minutes free.
8. Places Directory
This is an awesome app for finding shops and services near your current location. From restaurants to movie theaters to medical facilities to taxis, this app is very accurate and takes advantage of the business information from Google Local. This app is better than the info you get from a GPS unit (or app) and better than any of the similar apps available on the iPhone.
9. Tripit
I dig Tripit. It is by far the best app I’ve found for keeping track of all my travel itineraries. It runs on some great backend systems. You simply forward your confirmation emails for your flights, hotels, rental cars, and more to Tripit and it automatically organizes them into trips with all your details and confirmation numbers.
10. Seesmic
Twitter is an amazing instant-intelligence engine and it was made for mobile browsing. Although there’s an official Twitter app for Android now, Seesmic is still the best Android Twitter client.
11. FCC Speedtest
I’m obsessed with running speed tests to check my bandwidth in various places, both to see 3G fluctuations and to check the quality of Wi-Fi. There are a number of really good speedtest apps, but my new favorite is the FCC Test app.
12. Astro File Manager
Another one of the great things about Android (if you’re a geek or a tinkerer) is that you have lower-level access to the system itself. Astro is an app that lets you navigate the Android file system.
13. Got To Do
There are plenty of to-do apps to choose from on Android but I prefer Got To Do because of the solid interface and the fact that it can sync with the online service Toodledo.
14. Gist
Many of us have contact lists scattered across various computers, devices, and online services. Gist is a Web service that can bring them together and even pull in stuff from the Web to help you stay up to date with your most important contacts. There’s an Android app as well as an iPhone app.
15. TED Mobile
TED is a fascinating event that features a meeting of the minds of some of society’s most influential thinkers. You’ll definitely disagree with some of them, because there’s a large diversity of opinions, but many talks are worth listening to. What I love is that they’ve taken the videos from their conference and made them freely available on the Web. This app provides a great way to access the videos. I hope more conferences follow TED’s lead on this.
16. Pandora
Pandora is a streaming “radio station” for the Internet age. You simply search by an artist or song and it will create a running playlist based on that one piece of information. It intersperses an occasional ad between songs but the ads tend to be fairly localized and occasionally even useful.
17. Shazam
If you want to impress your friends with a mobile app, show them Shazam. Ever hear a song being played at a store or on the radio and ask yourself, “Oh, what song is that?” That’s where Shazam comes in. Just hit the button and let it listen for 15 seconds, query its database, and then return the name of artist and the song. It has about an 80% success rate.
18. Dial Zero
Are you one of those people who dials a customer service line and just keeps pressing zero until you get to talk to a real person? Then Dial Zero is your new friend. This app provides a directory of a ton of U.S. businesses and gives you numbers to help you get closer to a real person and instructions for which prompts to hit to speak to a human being as quickly as possible.
19. Google Goggles
This is a fun app that is a little but ahead of its time. It does visual searches. You can take pictures of things and then the app tries to tell you what they are. It’s limited in its scope but it is pretty cool, and it’s definitely a peek into the future. One of the coolest features is the ability to take pictures of text in a foreign language and let that app translate for you. In a foreign country, this can help you read street signs and avoid going into the wrong bathroom. :-)
20. Google Sky Map
Ever look up at the night sky and try to tell your kids the name of that constellation you’re pointing at, or try to remember which planet that is in the southern sky? Google SkyMap lets you point your smartphone at it and get the information. This is part of a new breed of apps called “Augmented Reality” apps that layer digital information on top of real world experiences.
21. Tricorder
A lot of geeks I know like to say that our smartphones are becoming more and more like the Tricorders on Star Trek. Well, here’s a fun app that turns your Android device into a virtual Tricorder. It even offers some useful environmental information, including GPS data, wireless data, and ambient sound measurements.
22. FxCamera
Honestly, the camera software on Android is an area where major improvements are needed, but this app is a great example of what’s possible. It has solid camera controls, full customization options, and offers some great effects for photos.
23. Photoshop Mobile
Photoshop is, of course, the best known photo editor in the world and its mobile app doesn’t do anything to hurt that reputation. But while the desktop version is know for having a zillion features, the mobile app is distinguished by its simplicity. It’s the best Android (and iPhone) photo editing app for simple crops, brightness adjustments, and sharpens, for example.
24. Bump
Bump is a fun (and useful) idea for sharing info between two phones using the accelerometer, and it works across Android and iPhone. You can use it to share contact info (yours and others), photos, and apps. You both simply open the Bump app, choose what you to share, and then hold the phones in your hands and bump your hands together.
25. Barcode Scanner
This app turns the Android camera into a barcode scanner. You simply scan a product’s UPC code and let the app go to work to find it in Google Product Search or a search on the open Web. You’ll be amazed at how fast it works. This is great for when you’re shopping retail and you want to check the price of a product online before buying to make sure you’re paying a fair price.

CES 2011: The biggest winners and losers

Takeaway: The Consumer Electronics Show is the biggest stage of the technology industry and every CES has its winner and losers. Here is the scorecard for CES 2011.The Consumer Electronics Show is the Super Bowl of the technology industry. As much as industry analysts and the tech press whine about CES being too big and being a relic of a bygone era, there’s no better place for tech companies to make a big splash that will be remembered throughout the year, and in some cases for years to come.
It’s also the place where tech companies can jockey for a better position in the market by generating more attention for their product line than a competitor’s. Conversely, companies that don’t make a good showing at CES can risk creating an impression that they are falling behind and risk having their products get lost in the crowd.
As such, every CES has its winners and losers. Here is this year’s scoreboard. Motorola Mobility the new Motorola spinoff that went live as a separate entity on the New York Stock Exchange on Monday of CES week. This new company focuses entirely on consumer devices and their first CES couldn’t have been scripted any better. In partnership with Google and Verizon they officially announced the new flagship Android tablet, the Motorola Xoom. They announced one of the first high-powered smartphones running on Verizon’s LTE 4G network, the Droid Bionic. And, to top it all off, they unveiled the breakthrough product of CES 2011, the Motorola Atrix, a smartphone that doubles as a legitimate PC replacement with both desktop and laptop docks.
In the past, Verizon Wireless has saved most of its big product announcements for some of the telcom-specific trade shows or its own private announcements. This year, the company came to CES with both guns blazing. On the heels of the successful US launch last month of its 4G LTE network — which is, arguably, now the world’s most advanced 4G Internet experience — Verizon had LTE live in Las Vegas and ready to show off the world’s largest annual crowd of technology enthusiasts. The network performed like a champ. And, on the official opening day of CES, Verizon held press conference announcing 10 LTE devices — smartphones, tablets, and hotspots — that will launch during the first half of the year. It was an impressive roster of devices from leading vendors such as Samsung, Motorola, HTC, and LG. The Motorola Xoom tablet and the HTC Thunderbolt were especially impressive. I spent 25 minutes using the Thunderbolt and was blown away by the speeds generated by the combination of its high-end hardware paired with Verizon LTE.
The company that was seemingly everywhere at CES 2011 was NVIDIA. Specifically, the dual core NVIDIA Tegra2 was the processor du jour, showing up in many of the new smartphones, tablets, and even car-tech announcements. At CES, NVIDIA announced that it is partnering with ARM to launch its own high-performance CPU cores the size of a dime. This is the long-rumored “Project Denver” that NVIDIA has been working on and it will likely position the company as a leading powerhouse in the next generation computing, since ARM processors power nearly all of the smartphones and tablets coming to market and are now scaling up to run PCs and servers as well. NVIDIA looks like it could become the Intel of the next great wave of computing. HONORABLE MENTION: Samsung This is beginning to sound like a broken record, but I’m still waiting to hear any hint of Microsoft’s vision of where it sees the computing world headed in the decade ahead and how Microsoft plans to take us there. We didn’t get it at CES 2011 even though Microsoft once again had the biggest stage — the opening keynote the night before the official opening of CES. Microsoft squandered its opportunity to set the agenda of the tech industry. Instead, it simply trotted out its standard stump speech on “Windows everywhere” and replayed many of the same demos from its 2010 product launches. Then, once the show opened, many of Microsoft’s traditional PC partners spent CES spotlighting their tablets instead of new netbooks or laptops running Windows 7. Microsoft’s newly-launched Windows Phone 7 devices got completely overshadowed as partners HTC, Samsung, and LG put their new Android smartphones front-and-center. And, at a show dominated by the launch of new tablets, we heard nothing from Microsoft about its tablet plans. Even Microsoft’s long-time partner Intel criticized Microsoft’s missing tablet strategy.
Sony’s CES story is not unlike Microsoft’s. Where’s the leadership? Where’s the vision? Sony has traditionally been the biggest name in the consumer electronics industry. It should dominate CES. But, when’s the last time you heard about a breakthrough product from Sony? When’s the last time you heard about a market-leading product from Sony? Its competitors have been running circles around it, and it was no different at CES 2011. Sony put on some glitzy presentations, but lacked the product leadership. Much of that was due to the fact that Sony focused most of its energy on the wrong thing — 3D TV. While Sony had perhaps the most impressive 3D television at CES, that’s a dubious distinction akin to having the nicest house in a neighborhood scheduled for demolition. Contrast that to what Samsung did at CES. It delivered thin, high-quality, reasonably priced (non-3D) TVs — the ones people actually want to buy. But, TVs weren’t Samsung’s only story. They unveiled exciting new smartphones, tablets, and PCs, including one of the most innovative new products at CES, the Sliding PC 7, a hybrid laptop/tablet.
One of the major trends at CES 2011 was the acceleration of the world to mobile computing. With the unveiling of dual core smartphones, over 80 new tablets, smartphones that also serve as PCs (the Motorola Atrix), and an emerging new category of hybrid tablet/laptops, it’s clear that technology companies are rising to meet the demands of users, who are spending more and more of their computing time using mobile devices instead of traditional PCs. If you look closely at this army of new devices — which were the headliners of CES — almost none of them are running Intel processors. Practically the whole fleet of these devices are running ARM processors in general and the dual core NVIDIA Tegra2 specifically. Intel has known that this trend was coming. I remember Intel presenting a slide at the 2008 Intel Developer Conference showing how sales of mobile devices were going to rapidly overtake traditional PCs in the years ahead. Intel attempted to meet this trend with its Menlow and Moorestown processors for “Mobile Internet Devices” (MIDs), a category that it tried to create with its hardware and software partners. However, Intel’s chips couldn’t match the low-power efficiency of ARM chips and rise of smartphones crowded MIDs out of the market. Instead of going back to the drawing board and making a more power-efficient class of mobile chips, Intel continues to fall behind. While NVIDIA chips were powering nearly all of the tablets and high-end smartphones at CES, Intel played up its “Sandy Bridge” chips for multimedia PCs. This focus on high-end chips feels like a tacit admission that Intel has no answer in mobile.

Fake Antivirus Worm hits Twitter

In a big malicious attack to Twitter, its users can be driven to fake site by clicking the shortened URL link that has been tweeted. The fake antivirusworm has affected the social networking site by goo.gl shortened URL. Twitter users are being shocked to find the malicious links have been tweeted from their account. It can be described as afake anti-virus attack that contains no original links other than Google's shortened link goo.gl and points to a URL endingwith "m28sx.html". According to some technical analysts, malicious attack through shortened links is not new. The concept to make long URL short for a site like Twitter that allows only 140 characters, is appreciated. However, it is easier for the attack through the shortened links. Experts are currently trying to track and analyze the worm thatis attacking through multiple social media applications and all URL shortening services. Raising doubts over other services, McAfee has recommended using its URL shortening service as it claims that the links are scannedand filtered to avoid malware. Meanwhile, experts also suggest using a tool like Tweetdeck that reveals the full link behind the shortened link before you visit that prevents you from being victim to Trojans, drive-by downloads, and other malicious attacks.

What is an Auditor’s Report?

Philadelphia businesses may have a lot of questions for their tax attorney regarding an auditor’s report. An auditor’s report is a review of a business’s financial statement (by either an internal organization or external organization) to assess the company’s current financial position, cash flow and operating results according to GAAP – which is an acronym for “Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.”
An auditor’s report can show that a businesss has properly accounted for its finances, granting that business a clean bill of health, or and audit can show that a company’s financial statements are misleading and should not be trusted. A negative audit report like this is called an adverse opinion.
Auditors alone are granted the power to give a company’s financial statements an adverse opinion, and this can be very threatening to business owners. No business wants their reputation soiled by association with dishonest financial records. Business owners in this case usually want to confer with auditors and change their accounting or disclosure records, so that they will not be branded with a permanent adverse opinion. Since adverse opinions state that a business has not been entirely genuine in recording its finances, the SEC will not tolerate public businesses that have been disapproved by auditors. The SEC can also very easily suspend trading in a company’s stock share if a CPA auditor informs them that the company has not received approval in the audit report.
There are serious incidents, however, when a CPA firm has doubts about a business’s ability to continue as a “going concern“. If a business is a going concern, it means that the business has enough financial resources and initiative to continue operations in the future and if a negative turn of events happened, the business would not have to default on its liabilities. A going concern is a business that does not face an immediate financial crisis, even if it has experienced some financial turbulence. A CPA auditor will assume that a business is a going concern unless evidence proves otherwise. Any doubts that the auditor has about a business’s integrity or status as a going concern will be recorded in the audit report.

A CPA auditor will assume that a business is a going concern unless evidence proves otherwise. Any doubts that the auditor has about a business’s integrity or status as a going concern will be recorded in the audit report.
