IPL 4 Auctions Analysis Chart :: technoindiaplace.blogspot.com

On the basis of on-field cricket performances in the last three editions of the Indian Premiere League (IPL 4), including runs scored and wickets taken, Robin Uthappa has emerged as the costliest batsman in the latest auctions and not Gautam Gambhir.

This is because the Pune Sahara Warriors have paid a whopping INR 1.9 Lakh/Run Uthappa has scored so far in the previous three editions of the IPL compared to Gambhir's INR 1.3 Lakh/Run.
"Cost-per-run and cost-per-wicket are among the parameters on which teams planned their auction strategy" a senior sports marketing executive said.

Even the $2.1-million paycheck to Yusaf Pathan is a cost-effective deal for the KKR as his cost-per-run is Rs 1.4 lakh, much lower than Uthappa.

This auction has been really surprising where some very big names like Brendon McCullum, Adam Gilchrist and Graeme Smith have not quite got the amount that everyone expected. But nevertheless the likes of Irfan Pathan, Robin Uthappa and Rohit Sharma will be laughing their way to the bank after franchisees doled out mind-boggling amounts to avail their services.

It will also be homecoming of sorts for Sreesanth who will now be playing for his home IPL franchisee- Team Kochi. But no such luck for Yuvraj Singh and probably that was expected after talks of his displeasure with Kings XI Punjab Management.

At the end of it, what we're left with is many cricketers turned Crore-Patis, legends who have taken quite a fall, many talking points for news anchors to analyze and a furore among fans (I, for one, am still outraging over RCB's lack of interest in once-upon-a-time icon player, Rahul Dravid). But the one thing that the auctions quite comprehensively proved is that there is just no place for the cricket romantic in IPL's cutthroat business.

Indian Team for ICC 2011 Cricket World Cup

The exclusion of middle-order batsman Rohit Sharma was the surprise in India's 15-man World Cup squad announced in Chennai. Specially when a goof like Virat Kohli was chosen instead!

* MS Dhoni - Expected * Sachin Tendulkar - Injured * Virender Sehwag - Yes Yes Yes * Gautam Gambhir - In Form * Yuvraj Singh - 50/50 Player * Suresh Raina - A Must * Virat Kohli - Goof * Yusuf Pathan - Wack * Harbhajan Singh - In Form * Praveen Kumar - Irfan Pathan was better * Zaheer Khan - No Choice * Ashish Nehra - Top Notch * Munaf Patel - Top Notch * Piyush Chawla - Top Notch * R Ashwin - Sifarshi???

3 Spinners? What do you folks think? Is this a good team for the Cricket World Cup 2011?
